The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset and Mālama Maui Nui launched the “Go Green Recycling Saturday” in July 2015 as part of a major effort to bring comprehensive recycling to West Maui.

In response to COVID, appointments are required to drop off items. Please visit MalamaMauiNui.org/GoGreen to schedule an appointment and view dates and locations of the event.

One Saturday a month, from 9:00am to 12:00pm, residents will be able to bring a wide variety of recyclables to bins set up in the parking lot behind the Lahaina Civic Center. Recyclables will be accepted at no charge. Please note: There is a suggested $10 donation fee to drop off regular-sized (or smaller) vehicle tires. There is no profit made on this fee; the full amount is paid to the drop off center in Kahului per their processing charge.

Volunteers will accept scrap metal, bicycles, washers, dryers, dishwashers, microwaves, refrigerators, stoves, water heaters, air conditioners, lawn mowers, lead acid batteries, computers, televisions, printers, monitors, and their cords, and regular-sized tires.

Items NOT accepted include propane tanks, green waste, household recyclables (glass, plastics, cardboard, metal, HI-5 items), furniture, trash, motor oil, hazardous fluids/waste, paint, or vehicles. As of July 2016, we can no longer accept cooking oil, household batteries, glasses, hearing aids, and books. Not sure if your item will be accepted? Call to ask, 877-2524, or email info@cwdhawaii.org.

“Go Green Recycling Saturday” will supplement the two current recycling locations in West Maui: the County’s Refuse & Recycling Center at Olowalu and Lahaina International Market’s HI-5 recyclables at the Lahaina Redemption Center (275 Lahainaluna Road). Verify their hours of operation in the Maui County Recycling Guide or by calling 270-7880.

These recycling events are made possible by our partners at The County of Maui and 5A Rent-A-Space.
