Rotary at Work Day – Saturday, April 25, 2026
If you'd like to volunteer and make a positive impact on Kula residents affected by the 2023 Kula Fire and recent Kona storms, consider joining Rotary at Work Day on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Rotary members from Maui's nine clubs will be working together to spread wood chips for hillside stabilization and erosion control, pull young Black Wattle trees growing in the burn area, and remove invasive plants like fireweed that compete with native species—hopefully planting some natives as well! There are activities suited for all abilities, and everyone’s contribution matters.
Malama Kula will lead this hands-on day of service. Volunteers should bring/wear:
- Long sleeved shirt, long pants and closed toe shoes.
- Hat, Sunscreen and water
- Snacks
- Sunglasses
Malama Kula will supply gloves and hand tools for the tasks; however, volunteers are welcome to bring their own equipment if they prefer.
Volunteers should meet at Kula Marketplace (15-200 Haleakala Hwy, Kula, HI 96790) by 8:45 am and carpool to the properties. Help is needed until about 12:30–1:00 pm. After the designated work period, volunteers carpool back to the Kula Marketplace. For those interested in remaining for lunch, the Kula Lodge offers an on-site food truck.
