Maui District Engineer for Hawaii Dept. of Transportation Highways Division to be speaker
Robin Shishido will be the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset ‘s meeting at 5:30 pm on Tuesday May 3rd.   The meeting will be held at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant at the Royal Lahaina Resort.
 
Mr. Shishido will share information about Honoapiilani Highway Improvements from Papalua Beach Park to Launiupoko.  This part of the highway is located close to mean sea level and susceptible to coastal erosion and flooding. This project will look at service reliability, resiliency, and safety for roughly 6 miles from Ukumehame to the Lahaina Bypass.
 
Mr. Shishido has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering from Arizona State University.  He has over 20 years of experience in the planning, design and construction of roadway and bridge projects.  He spent 16 years in the private sector and the last 7 years with the State of Hawaii.  As the Maui District Engineer, he is in charge of the State roadways on Maui, Molokai and Lanai
