We held a great meeting on Tuesday 2/22/17. Attended by many members and guests we heard from speaker Karee Carlucci, who represents Maui Lei Native Expeditions and Friends of Mokulu`ula. We heard the amazing history of Lahaina and our own cultural site – Moku`ula Island and Mokuhina Pond. Karee answered many of our questions about this historical site that sits “right in our backyard”. President Melissa Fort announced that effective March 1st she will need to step down as our club president. Family circumstances on the Mainland require her to step down. Past President Joanne Laird will assume the President-of-Record duties and she will be assisted by our many Past Presidents in facilitating our meetings and events for the remainder of this Rotary year. We congratulated Mariko Higashi who stepped forward to serve a President-of-Record for the 2018-19 Rotary year. She will be assisted by Joanne Laird with her duties. Mariko has already attended Pre-PETS with her class of 51 D5000 President-elects. She will be attending PETS in Denver, Colorado this coming weekend. We heard updates from Heidi Dollinger, chair-extrordinaire of the upcoming “Go for the Green” St. Patrick’s Day Fundraiser. Tickets are on sale by following this link:
