Lahaina Sunset Celebrates 8 years!
Recently members and guests gathered at the Lahaina Yacht Club to celebrate the 8th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset.  The club was chartered in September 2014 by co-Presidents Liz May and Jim Fahnestock.  This vibrant and active club has organized and conducted several signature projects in West Maui and beyond.  A few of these signature projects are the Go for the Green monthly recycling effort in collaboration with Malama Maui Nui; the installation and maintenance of 35 Rescue Tubes located on West Maui Beach Parks; and over a two-year period have planted over 100 fruit-bearing trees at public and private sites.  These are just a few of many community, youth and international projects that club members have been involved.  As a result of their many accomplishments the club has been recognized seven out of the eight years as Small, Medium and/or Large Club-of-the-Year in all Rotary District 5000, which is comprised of 52 clubs in the Hawaiian Islands.

To quote founding president Liz May: “When the community comes together so much can be accomplished for the cause.  Rotary is a great way to get involved and make a difference.”

This club welcomes members of the public to attend any of their upcoming meetings held on the 1st and 3rdTuesdays at 5:30 pm the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant located in The Royal Lahaina Resort.  For a listing of upcoming meetings and speakers go to the club’s website:  https://www.rotarycluboflahainasunset.org
