WEST MAUI RESCUE TUBES:
Rescue Tube is a device to help distressed swimmers from drowning. When swimmers are caught in rip current and similar unexpected circumstances in the ocean, they tend to panic and drown. Sometimes family member or friend try to help and he/she also drowns if he/she does not know how to rescue drowning person. Rescue Tube helps these distressed swimmers by allowing them to hang on to them until rescue boat or strong swimmer can take them to the shore. Three Rotary Clubs in Lahaina put 33 Rescue Tubes in 9 Maui County Beach Parks in 2018, and members of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset and friends of Rotary have been monitoring them bi-weekly and fix them if necessary so that they are in good condition for use anytime. Some Rescue Tubes had to be taken out because of coastal erosions and vandalism, and 17 Rescue Tubes currently remain on 5 Beach Parks.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES DRIVE:
The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset holds a School Supplies Drive for the Maui-based school children. We will be announcing the dates, locations and Amazon wish list in the fall of 2026.
