Membership
The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset was chartered in September 2014. Our members actively participate in community service projects to enhance the quality of life in our community.
We welcome new members who are interested in:
- Community Service: Rotarians are hard at work to serve the community, here in Maui County and around the world. We partner with non-profit organizations, county, and private sector companies throughout Maui to hold monthly community service projects such as recycling events, school supplies drives, food collections and much more.
- Business Networking: Rotary is a place for networking and sharing experience and knowledge with people you know and trust.
- Friends for Life: Rotarians are people with big hearts, who make great friends. You will make friends for life!
Rotary membership fees
Rotary membership fees cover the contribution to Rotary International, Hawaii District 5000 and expenses to run the club. No officers of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset are paid any stipend.
We have several membership categories and club dues are different for each category. New members pay pro rata annual membership dues from the first day of the month following induction. The dues may be paid annually or semi-annually. Following are the dues for the current Rotary Year (2024-2025)
- Regular Member: Regular Member’s primary residence is on Maui. Dues are $295 per year, prorated.
- Spouse/Partner Member: If married or partnered with a Regular Member, the individual is eligible for reduced dues. Dues are $195 per year, prorated.
- Young Professional Member (under age 30): Dues are $137.50 per year, prorated.
- Malihini Member: A guest member whose primary residence is not on Maui but who wishes to establish a seasonal connection to the club, is welcome to be a Malihini Member. A Malihini Member does not have voting rights in club affairs and will not be included in the club membership roster reported to Rotary International and District 5000 (Hawaii). Malihini Member Fee is $100 per year plus $35 for first year for induction fee.
- Company Member: A business or company can pay the membership fee for a Regular Member. If the Regular Member cannot attend a meeting or activity, a member of the company can attend or participate in his/her place.
Rotary Time Commitment
The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset meets the first and third Tuesday of each month, with a speaker, at the Ali`i Meeting Room at the Aston Paki Maui Resort. The resort is located in Honokowai at 3615 Lower Honoapiilani Road, Lahaina, HI 96761. Meetings are held in-person and hybrid via Zoom. An optional social takes place between 5:00 - 5:30 p.m., followed by the meeting between 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Monthly Socials
We strive to have socials monthly on the third Tuesday of the month at a West Maui location. This is a casual get together where members and visitors can get to know one another better - friends and family are always welcome.
Membership Process
Anyone is welcome at our club meetings, which offer a great opportunity to get to know us and learn more about Rotary. Prospective members are asked to attend two club meetings and meet with our Membership Director. At this meeting prospective members receive an application form to complete and submit to the club secretary. Once the application is approved by the board of directors, it is sent to the membership for approval. The prospective member is then inducted into the club during a regular meeting.
