Author of “Talk It Up Live It Up” to speak
On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, John R. Sherman will be the speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset meeting. The topic of his presentation is “Talk It Up, Live It Up! – A Subconscious Guidance System for your Conscious Life”.
Your voice is more powerful than you think. The words you speak change how you feel, how you act, and how others see you. Drawing on over 20 years of coaching people across Hawaiʻi and beyond, John shows audiences how to talk to themselves and to others in a way that builds self-esteem and changes how they are perceived. "Using imagery from their own lives, audience members will leave knowing how to write their own simple autosuggestions, and Talk It Up Live It Up! starts working the moment they start talking."
John R. Sherman holds a B.S. in Psychology and a master's degree in counseling. For over 20 years he has coached professionals and everyday people across Hawaiʻi, the mainland, and Canada, and he gave his first Talk It Up Live It Up! presentation in Waikīkī in 2004. He is the founder of John Sherman Presents, Inc. and author of the Talk It Up Live It Up! book series, with two books published and a third underway. His work has appeared in Civil Beat's Community Voices. His hands-on journal books will be available for purchase, with both the Introductory Edition and Talk It Up Live It Up! 21 offered together for a special event price of $25.00.
The meeting will be held at the YMCA West Side Resource Center, located in the old Tamura’s building in Emerald Plaza. The address is 226 Kupuohi Street, Lahaina, 96761. The social period begins at 5:00 pm, and attendees are invited to bring a dish to share at the potluck. The formal meeting program is scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
